High-quality early childhood enrichment center catering to both Jewish and non-Jewish families and children

Our high-quality, enriched early childhood learning environment with an experiential, play-based curriculum emphasizes social, physical and emotional development that will ensure children have the skills to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. We are centrally located and easily accessible to the British Properties and the entire North Shore.

Our indoor play space is flooded with natural light, airy, and modern, and flexible for learning and play.

The secured outdoor play area is a natural environment that features engaging playscapes and opportunities to promote curiosity while exploring the natural setting and learning from the salmon-bearing Brothers Creek.

The North Shore Jewish Community Centre dates back to the 1950s. It is the centre for Jewish living on the North Shore, committed to the values of education, culture and community. Centrally located on Taylor Way in West Vancouver in an award-winning building in a wooded and natural setting, the North Shore Jewish Community Centre has provided Jewish education to children throughout its history. Tot Shabbat and the North Shore Hebrew School have educated children as young as 12 months up to 13 years of age for over 40 years. The North Shore Jewish Community Centre also offers community programming including adult education, culture, arts and music, and operates a fully-staffed kitchen.

In 2013, 22% of kindergartners in the West Vancouver School District were vulnerable on one or more scales of the Early Development Instrument, which assesses school readiness on five scales: physical health and well-being; social competence; emotional maturity; language and cognitive development; and communication and general knowledge. While West Vancouver has less vulnerability than most areas of the province, the British Properties has a higher level of child vulnerability (33%) than other areas of West Vancouver. This compares to the overall provincial vulnerability rate of 32.5%.
